University of Utah - Institute Building

Dress: Business Casual. We will be in the chapel for the keynote speakers.

Who this is for: For anyone who is widowed, whether recently or many years ago, whether you've remarried, and/or divorced since then, young and not so young in age, empty nesters or still have "birds" in the nest, please come and join us in this spiritually uplifting conference. You're also welcome to attend if you're not widowed, but have married someone who is widowed.

Suggested Donation: $35.00

Why should I attend?

Conferences may not be for everyone, but if you’ve never been, we highly recommend giving it a try. Our volunteer planning committee seeks to provide tools, resources, friendship, and support to all who are on a widowed journey.

How much does it cost?

The suggested donation is $35. Payment is not required, but the conference is self-funded. The donation amount covers the cost of the meals and refreshments. If you can afford to pay a little bit more, to help those who can’t afford the full amount, that is wonderful. The activities we’ve arranged are free.

What do I wear?

Business Casual is suggested.

How do I gather courage to attend?

You are not alone. Most everyone is nervous to attend, especially the very first time. You may be surprised to know that typically, about half of those attending have never attended the “Main” conference or any of the regional WW Conferences before. Take courage and go for it! Unlike most conferences, the WW conference has a “family reunion-like” quality to it. Personally, I feel it’s a bit of Heaven on Earth. From the moment you walk in the door, you are surrounded by people who “get it.” If you get overwhelmed, or need help, look for me, or someone else with the “Ask Me” label on their name tag. We will take good care of you.

Can I Bring a Friend?

The WW Conference is geared toward those whose spouse died while they were married. If you’d like to bring someone who is not widowed for support, or because you are dating or married to them and you’d like to learn together, that is fine. Please have them register and donate as they are part of meals and are able.

Do I have to attend the whole conference?

You can attend any portion of the conference that works for you.

Where do I park? Do I need a pass?

The conference is during the U of U Spring Break. If you park in the institute parking lot, no pass is required. (Map links are on the website)

Where do I stay?

We don’t have any room blocks at hotels. I encourage you to book sooner rather than later, as prices typically go up over time. You are welcome to post something in the WW FB Group and see if anyone would like to share a room or Airbnb.

How can I participate if I can’t attend?

Where permission is given, we will provide Zoom links to watch presentations live, or recordings after the conference. Everything will be available on the Latter-day Saint Widows & Widowers website.
