Ben Baker

Ben has attended a few widow/widower conferences now and has decided to try to help others by presenting a session at this conference. His wife Mickelle passed away in March 2022 after 5 years with colon cancer. They are the parents of 5 children ages 21 to 12. They currently live in Riverton, Utah. He works at FamilySearch as a software engineer trying to hasten the work on both sides of the veil.

Music has always been a large part of Ben’s life, including many major life events.  It is often how he feels the Spirit most strongly and he often even “thinks in music”. Ben has sung in several choirs including the Institute Choir at the University of Utah, a favorite place since he was a student there.  He also plays the cello. He’s found that music can help one feel, process and deal with difficult emotions and hopes this session will help everyone wherever they are at in their grief journey. He will share some songs that continue to help him get through hard times by pointing to the Savior and invite others to share their favorites as well.
