Jody VanDrimmelen

Jody has a master’s degree in social work, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and is certified in trauma and betrayal trauma counseling.  She has a private practice working with men, women, and children.  Her work is focused on helping families navigate the many challenges of life including anxiety, depression, trauma, pornography addiction, betrayal trauma, marriage counseling and grief. She has run groups for women in betrayal trauma the past 10 years and speaks regularly for conferences and church groups. 

One of her favorite opportunities to teach is  the Widow/Widower conference which she discovered shortly after her husband’s passing 15 years ago.   She refers to her life as a wife and a mother for 32 years as her 1.0 life.  Her new life the last 15 years as a widow as her 2.0 life.  She is looking forward to her 3.0 life as a retiree and full-time grandma in 2025!

Title: Atypical Grief

Description: Not everyone has the same experiences in grieving. In this workshop Jody will help you to understand more about this journey and give you tools to navigate this difficult and challenging grief process. Those invited to attend this class are W/W with dysfunctional or sucidal spouses: deaths due to suicide, or marriages significantly affected by addiction, mental illness, infidelity, criminal activity and other behaviors that harmed the survivor and their family. This could also include learning of a spouse's double life after their death.

Title: I am Not Ok, But That is Ok: Living Life in the "Between"

Description: When someone asks us how we are doing, the most repeated answer is “I am OK.” Deep inside we know we want to be much more than OK. However, we don’t want to expose our brokenness especially when we are struggling to even be OK. This workshop with Jody will help you to understand why it is OK NOT TO BE OK, and how the journey from broken to whole can help us to become who we are destined to become in God’s grand design for our lives.

Title: How to Avoid Falling in Love with a Jerk: What should I be looking for in dating?

Description: Are you ready to begin considering dating but find the prospect daunting? You may feel incredibly unprepared to date and even a bit terrified to jump into this process. What things should I consider and watch out for in the world of dating in 2024? This workshop with Jody will help you discover a balance between the logical “head approach” and the “love is all you need" philosophies of the world as you brave the world of dating again.

Title: Men are Like Waffles. Women are Like Spaghetti

Description: While a man tends to deal with one problem or purpose at a time (moving from waffle square to waffle square), a woman's thoughts generally flow together (like spaghetti noodles). Once you discover how each processes feelings and thoughts, and then uses them to communicate, you're on your way to happy and healthy relationships!
